Biographical Details of Colin Chapman - Author and Lecturer
Dr Colin R Chapman MA, CEng, CSci, CChem, FEI, FNucI, FRSC, FRSH, FSG, Fellow of the University of Northampton, Lord of Pattishall Manor, Northamptonshire, is a Freeman of the City of London and a Liveryman of the Worshipful Company of Plumbers. He has written 14 genealogically-related books, three of which are published also in the United States. He originated the three-letter Chapman County Code for British Isles counties which formed the basis for a British Standard and now an International Standard, ISO-3166. He is a life Vice-President of the Federation of Family History Societies, a Vice-President of the Society of Genealogists, President of the Bristol & Avon Family History Society, President of the Gloucestershire Family History Society, President of the Northamptonshire Family History Society, and Patron of the Bedfordshire Family History Society. He founded or co-founded six of the British county genealogical societies. He has lectured on British and Irish Genealogy across England, Scotland, Wales and the Channel Islands and in the US, Canada, Australia, New Zealand, Switzerland, France, Germany, Austria, Slovakia and the Czech Republic, and has followed Alex Haley's Roots to The Gambia.
